How to Use (other people's) Facebook Groups for Business

 

I am sure many of you have heard just how awesome Facebook groups can be as a place to make some real connections with potential clients and essentially grow your business online.

 

I see far too often, people who join groups with the very transparent mission to simply sell and drop their links and leave which doesn't work in the online world.

 

In order to build your business online you have to take the time to make real connections and establish the trust factor with people.  Remember these people don't know you, so why would they buy from you, especially if you are a personal brand?  They want to get to know, like and trust you before they will buy from you.

 

So here's a few ways you can use Facebook groups to start to build your brand and potentially capture some leads online.

 

 

1.         Gage the group to ensure it's a fit.

 

Be sure that the group you are joining and wanting to participate in, is what you are looking for.  Normally there are laid out intentions for the group as well as terms and conditions for participation.  Be sure to review these and be clear about whether this could be a fit.

 

2.         Don’t come in / go in to simply sell. 

 

Instead, show up with the intention to connect, serve and help, learn some stuff but NOT to sell.  If you are authentic and supportive, connections and networking naturally takes place.  Share what you have to offer the group occasionally and when is appropriate based on the rules of the group. Many groups have promotional days where you can share your business info and promotions.

 

3.        When creating a post, original and helpful. 

 

Be authentic and share.  The more human you come across, the more relatable and approachable you are to the other members in the group.

 

4.        If you show up just to post your content and not help out your fellow        community members, they notice. 

 

While it may seem like people don’t notice your presence and how you show up, they do.  Show up, add value, be authentic, share yourself, REPEAT.  This will create the most benefit to you AND your business.  Especially if this is a support group.

 

5.         Participate Regularly

 

If you don't participate regularly, you can't complain that the group is not serving you.  You must ask for what you need as well and share yourself.  Don't be a lurker and participate!
